Y FM HOLDS SHOW IN MEMORY OF EBONY REIGNS
One of Ghana’s premium radio stations Y FM holds a special programme in honour and celebration of the life and career of one of Ghana’s youngest dancehall artiste Priscilla Opoku Kwarteng with the stage name Ebony in a show dubbed #EbonylivesonY.
Today February 8, 2021 marks 3 years Ebony Reigns passed on and Y FM has decided to hold a programme for her fans in her memory across its YTriangle – Y 102.5 FM in Kumasi, Y 107.9FM in Accra and Y 97.9 FM also in Takoradi.
The Chief Director of Global Media Alliance, Emma Wenani stated “she could have been a force to reckon within the industry if she was still alive. I am sure our listeners who are fans of Ebony have missed her so we want to keep her memory alive in our hearts” she added “We will share past videos of the artiste on all our social media handles across the Triangle. There will also be interview sessions with her close friends and family”.
The demise of Ebony Reigns occurred on February 8, 2018 on her journey back from a visit to her mother in Sunyani. She was involved in a fatal car accident along with an army official Atsu Vondee and her friend Franklina Yaa Nkansah Kuri.
The dancehall artiste is known for her popular songs Dancefloor (2015), Kupe (2016), Poison (2017), Sponsor (2017), Maame Hwe (2017) and Hustle (2017). In 2016, she won the Bass Awards for the category of Best Dancehall Video Awards and the Best Female Video and New Discovery in the 4syte Music Video Awards. In 2017, she won the Bass Awards Artiste of the year and Favourite Female Musician. In 2018, she won the VGMA Artist of the Year, Afro Pop Song of the Year and Album of the Year. Ebony Reigns still lives on.
