Asante Kotoko, Communications Director, Moses Antwi Benefo has confirmed, there was a clause that allowed the club to terminate their contract with Club Consult Africa.
According to Mr. Benefo, there are no legal implications regarding the contract termination saying “the contract was unilaterally terminated”. He added that the contract was not befitting for the two-time Caf Champions League winners.
“After reviewing the contract with Club Consult Africa, we saw that it was not going to help Kotoko in any way”
Kotoko officially terminated their purchase agreement with Club Consult Africa early this month, who was the main intermediary between the club and Portuguese kit manufacturing company Strike.
”Kotoko had a contract with Club Consult Africa and not Strike. They were to purchase kits and training apparel for Kotoko.”
Club Consult Africa has threatened a legal battle with the Porcupines following a feel of breach of contract.
However, Kotoko’s management is certain of no such thing as the club is ready to face the other party in the law court.
Speaking to Kumasi-based Hello Fm he said-” They can go to court for redress. Now we have taken the decision and we are ready to welcome any decision from Club Consult Africa. Whatever comes up will be channeled to our legal team.”
