Black Stars winger, Christian Atsu has confirmed the passing of his mum today ahead of their game against Everton on Sunday.
It’s been a tough season for the winger so far in the premier league as he has been out of favour under manager Steve Bruce.
However, these hard moments of fighting for a place seems not to be over yet but only gets tougher as the former Chelsea player loses his mum.
On the eve of the Magpies game against the league leaders at Saint James park, the former Everton player bid farewell to his mum on twiiter.
Atsu tweeted ” Your life was a blessing, your memory a treasure, you are loved beyond words and will be missed beyond measure as you left us today #RIPMum ”
In the meantime, the cause of death is unknown but Ghanaians and colleagues shared their condolence with the player in his comment section.
The 28-year-old has had no place in the squad let alone minutes on the pitch in the EPL but has only featured 10 minutes in Newcastle’s win against Blackburn in the carabao last moth.
With little minutes this season, Atsu has missed out on two successive call-ups by new Ghana coach, Charles Kwabla Akunnor.
