President Nana Addo terminates double track system for SHS 1 & 3

The double-track system for 1st and 3rd years Senior High School (SHS) students has come to an end due to the resumption of schools from January 18.

President Akufo-Addo in his 21st address to the nation on Sunday, January 3, 2020 announced the new development with the double track sysytem.

“I must stress that SHS 3 students in all schools, like SHS 1 students, will no longer run the double-track system.”

”The expansion of infrastructure at the various senior high schools, over the last three years, has brought us to this favourable situation.”

For the mean time, the double track system will be applicable to SHS 2 students.

President Akufo-Addo explained that Basic school students from Kindergarten (KG) to Junior High School (JHS) will resume to their academic activities from Friday, January 15, 2020.

Whiles Senior High School (SHS) 2 & 3 students resume to school on January 18, 2021.

First year SHS students to also begin school on March 10, 2021.

And tertiary students also resume their academic calendar from Saturday, Janurary 9, 2021.

The resumption of academic activities were agreed after some government officials held many discussions with stakeholders within the education sector to formulate a comprehensive plan on the resumption of schools.
