Mahama urges NDC supporters to protest peacefully

The flagbearer for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Mahama has urged its supporters to protest the outcome of the 2020 presidential elections peacefully.

John Mahama in a Facebook post insisted, “elections can be emotive and the EC’s incompetent handling of the December 7 poll leaves a sour taste in the mouths of all patriotic citizens.”

”It is important to hold the EC accountable to ensure that it purifies itself and rises again to be the leading electoral body on our continent, Africa.”

”I still urge all who feel outraged by the EC’s conduct to manifest their displeasure in a manner that is peaceful.”

His call comes after series of demonstrations held in various parts of Ghana which led to the arrest of individuals.

Last Thursday, the Police announced it arrested at least 30 supporters of the NDC who were protesting near the offices of the Electoral Commission (EC) in Accra.

John Mahama and the NDC have being criticized by most Ghanaians over the violent protests.
