Asante Kotoko winger, Maxwell Baakoh has rejected a proposal presented to him to pen a new deal for the club due to unpaid allowances.
The player has demanded GHC 5,000 before extending his contract with the Reds in Kumasi.
The former Karela United winger has rejected a Ghc3,500 ($600) per month deal presented by the management to lure the player into committing his future for the Porcupines.
Baakoh’s exploit in the 2019 Caf champions league play-off under Charles Kwabla Akunnor made the fans compared him to Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi.
In the meantime, Kotoko’s regional rivals Ashgold is said to have a keen interest in securing the signature of the 25-year-old for the upcoming season.
Baakoh played least than expected games for the Kumasi-based club due to multiple injury situations, spending most of his previous contract on the sideline.
Hence, it is possible that Kotoko will be without him for the upcoming season, which they participate in three major competitions- Ghana Premier League, Caf Champions League and the MTN FA Cup.
