GTV Journalist Reports To The Security Agency After Receiving Threats
Abdul Moomen, a GTV Journalist have resorted to the Police after he has received several threats from unidentified people.
Mr Moomen recently posted a picture of two men facing a Car. He captioned the post as; “I have lodged an official complaint to the Nima police. But should anything happen to me or any member of my family, please help them to track the guy in black (it’s the best shot I could get of him under the circumstances). He and his friends have threatened to deal with me”.
He added that, the unknown men say they know where the GTV Journalist lives so the work to eliminate him is easy for them. They say they know where I live and that, that job will be easy”,
Mr Moomen later deleted the post. This was as a result of the police taken over the case.
It seems the threats and attacks on Journalists is something that will not come to an end sooner.
Recently, Freelancer journalist, Manasseh Azure Awuni has received threats and attacks after he produce and article about the just ended 2020 general elections.
According to Awuni, he said the attacks and threats were sent to him through his email address on Christmas day.
The morning host of Angel FM and former worker for Adom FM, captain Smart was robbed and a note was left for him that, they people who robbed him will come after him if he keeps on supporting the New Patriotic Party.
Kojo Oppong Nkrumah has told the security agencies in the country to deal with threats and attacks on media personels.
“It has been suggested that these threats are associated with their work as journalists,” the Information Minister, who doubles as the Member of Parliament for the area indicated.”
Ghana’s enviable reputation as a protector of journalists’ rights and freedoms must be preserved,” he added.
