Exactly 3 years ago today, former Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Soulama Abdoulaye was laid to rest.
When Asante Kotoko terminated his contract and released him, I was the first person who spoke to him. I liked him so much and wanted him to play for the best club in the country – Hearts of Oak.
He agreed, I spoke to the leadership of the club, and he was signed.
After taking the first part of his signing-on fee, he called and said, ‘Sheikh, I want to thank Allah for bringing me to Hearts. So get me a mosque where they can recite the Qur’an to thank Allah for me and get me a school where I can get some children and give them some joy.’
I did and we went to Maamobi to do all that with the support of Iliasu Doku, Atallahu, and Awal.
May his love for the Qur’an, aptness in his duty to Allah and love for children earn him Jannatul Firdaus. Amen
Soulama Abdoulaye was an honest person!
