CK Akunnor And His Assistant Yet To Receive Salary Since Their Appointment- GFA Gen Secretary Confirms

Black Stars head coach, Charles Kwablor Akunor, and his assistant, David Duncan have not received their salary since taking over from Akwesi Appiah.

According to the Ghana Football Association(GFA)  General secretary, Prosper Harrison, Akunnor, and his deputy, are also in contract with Ghanaians. Therefore, it’s not only GFA  that owe the black stars coaches.

Ghana Football Association appointed the former Kotoko coach and a new technical team in January to see the affairs of the Black Stars after a poor performance in AFCON 2019.

However, the former Black Stars player due to the Covid-19 pandemic had to wait until September, where he took charge of Ghana’s two friendlies against Mali and Qatar as head coach.

Speaking on Asempa FM, lawyer Harrison said-“It Ghanaians who are yet to pay. The contract is between them[Akunnor and Duncan] and Ghanaians. So don’t let it seem like somebody has to pay. It’s Ghanaians who owe them.”

“But when the engagement is good, there is understanding. But we are in constant communication so they know what the situation is… and there are efforts in place to ensure that some money is been paid. From our side we talk to them every now and then.” he added

Meanwhile, Ghana have begun preparation ahead of their clash with Sudan on Thursday, November 12, at the Cape Coast stadium.
