Electoral Commission (EC) has disclosed it has created ‘missing names list’ for registered Ghanaians whose names are not on the electoral roll.
These 820 persons have been put on the ‘missing names list’ across 338,622 polling stations in the country.
According to the EC, these 820 persons will be allowed to vote using manual verification.
Out of the 830 persons, 542 were heedlessly omitted from the register.
The remaining 288, out of it, 233 registered voters on the ‘missing names list’ were placed at the wrong polling stations.
The last group of persons are 55 and were placed under the ‘exceptions list’ and have successfully challenged their status at the High Court.
Chairperson of the Commission, Jean Mensa, insisted the problem of missing names was mainly due to unintentional human and administrative errors.
